Today Is Earth Day. Do Your Part.

Saturday, March 28, 2009

I remember last year when the fuss on Earth Hour invaded local TV commercials. We were like, "Whoa. What's this about? Yeah let's try it. It's just for an hour." As it turned out, we forgot to turn off all electricity-consuming devices at the specified time. So basically we missed Earth Hour 2008. Hopefully we won't today.

See, Earth Hour is something you don't encounter every "hour." Get the idea? Anyways, I know little about the origins of this idea but it's nice to know that millions of people on Earth participated last 2008. I know for a fact that millions more would participate this 2009.

As of this writing, I am reading the Earth Hour article on Wikipedia. And for your convenience, I'll quote some highlights from last year's Earth Hour:
With 35 countries around the world participating as official flagship cities and over 400 cities also supporting, Earth Hour 2008 was a major success, celebrated on all seven continents. Iconic landmarks all around the world turned off their non-essential lighting for Earth Hour which included the Empire State Building (New York City), Sears Tower (Chicago), Golden Gate Bridge (San Francisco), Bank of America Plaza (Atlanta), Sydney Opera House (Sydney, Australia), Wat Arun Buddhist Temple (Bangkok, Thailand), the Colosseum (Rome, Italy), Royal Castle (Stockholm, Sweden), London's City Hall (England), Space Needle (Seattle, USA), the CN Tower (Toronto, Canada) and SM Mall of Asia & The Giant Globe (Manila, Philippines).
See? See! That's our nation over there. I wasn't aware of the Philippines' participation last 2008. Cool. And read here. This was the results of Earth Hour 2008:

According to WWF Thailand, Bangkok decreased electricity usage by 73.34 megawatts, which, over one hour, is equivalent to 41.6 tonnes of carbon dioxide.[16] The Bangkok Post gave different figures of 165 megawatt-hours and 102 tonnes of carbon dioxide. This was noted to be significantly less than a similar campaign initiated by Bangkok's City Hall the previous year in May where 530 megawatt-hours were saved and 143 tonnes of carbon dioxide emission was cut.[17]Toronto saved 900 megawatt-hours of electricity. 8.7% was saved if measured against a typical March Saturday night.[18] Ireland, as a whole, had a reduction in electricity use of about 1.5% for the evening.[19] In the three-hour period between 18:30 and 21:30, there was a reduction of 50 megawatts, saving 150 megawatt-hours, or approximately 6 tonnes of carbon dioxide.[20]

In Dubai, where external lighting on several major city landmarks was turned off and street lighting in selected areas was dimmed by 50%, the Electricity and Water Authority reported savings of 100 megawatt-hours of electricity. This represented a 2.4% reduction in demand compared to before the hour began.

So it was not all fun back 2008 was it? Anyways, there's always room for better results and improvement. So what the heck. Turn your lights off! Earth Hour would take place today at 8:30 PM local time. That means 8:30 PM at your place. By the way, you've gone reading this far. Why not visit their website now? It's http://www.earthhour.org/home/. Cool eh? At least people are now starting to care less for themselves and more for Mother Earth. Always be reminded that we only have one planet. As the Discovery Channel puts it, we're all stuck in this one big island. We would have nowhere else to go to if we destroy it.

Thanks to Wikipedia.com for the quoted articles. 'Till my next installment.

Bayani Agbayani Goes Nuts.

Friday, March 27, 2009

Here's a video of comedian actor Bayani Agbayani lashing out on some gooks while clubbing. It was on a few days ago but I just wanna comment on it.

Bayani bumped a motorbike with his Ford X5 while clubbing because Bayani Agbayani, as he said himself, was drunk. Apparently, some fool badmouthed Bayani and his fellow fools recorded on video his backlash. Okay, so here's the thing: Bayani was drunk and he admitted his fault, and he paid and settled immediately. But why would the effing motorcycle rider fool badmouth Bayani in the first place anyway? Mr. Agbayani just did what every other ordinary man would. And the motorcycle fool was a dick. All he did was say words and no action. Maybe he's gay. Bayani on the otherhand was outnumbered but he insisted on taking down the idiot motorfool.

Bottomline is, it's partly Bayani's fault - for being DUI and hitting a motorbike. But to those fools who settled with Mr. Agbayani (PHP 6,000 for a tiny motorbike dent? Sellout) and uploaded the captured video on the net: You are the losers on this one. Obviously you did nothing to defend your honor and dignity, considering Mr. Agbayani was drunk and all. All you did was yap. You just talked and talked like little girls (especially the motor fool). Mr. Agbayani, salutations.

'Till my next installment.

Opinions: Manny Pacquiao, Solar Entertainment, & more on ABS-CBN

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Another day another issue. Seems like Manny has retracted his actions to detach with Solar Entertainment. Good for him. I mean, if he did continue, he'll be slapped with a class suit and the rest would be history. It appears that Pacquiao and Co. found no violations on their contract with Solar, which basically owns him until 2010 or 2011. He really has no way out anyways.

What's pestering me though is the intervention of ABS-CBN. This broadcasting corporation, in my opinion, is always "dipping" into everyone's affair. It seems that the Lopez group is interested with everything.

Remember back then when ABS-CBN accused GMA-7 of manipulating TV ratings by giving groceries to people? What happened to that case now? It's all bull. How about Ces Orena-Drilon's not telling the authorities about Sen. Trillanes' plans? What about her being kidnapped? And how about being biased and one-sided against the Philippine Government?

And most recently, ABS-CBN dipped its malicious fingers again on the Pacquiao issue. Why? Because they want to make more money I guess. Obviously that's one of the reasons. Lopez should tell his minions to behave properly.

Look, prior to Manny Pacquiao's approach to ABS-CBN, this broadcasting corporation knew that the former had an existing contract with another entity. So why accept it in the first place? ABS-CBN reasons out that they "have accepted Manny as their client." BS. That's no reason. They accepted Manny as their client even though they knew that he had exoisting contracts which discounts them from accepting Manny in good faith. Should Manny be accepted, Solar Entertainment would win PHP 150 million against ABS-CBN and Co. easy.

Manny walked away, retracted, and made good again with Solar. And look what ABS-CBN did. They aired a video footage about Manny Pacquiao saying things that they agreed (Pacquiao and ABS-CBN) to only air if Pacquiao found Solar Entertainment to have violated any contract rules. Obviously Manny found nothing, but ABS-CBN showed it anyways, even if there's an agreement already. Look how ABS-CBN treats its clients. And as if they're really showing respect with Pacquiao's decision to stay with Solar Entertainment. Yeah. Obviously, this is an ABS-CBN payback. Those shrewd unprofessionals. So that's what I saw on TV the other night. Here are some lines quoted from the GMANews.TV site:
MANILA, Philippines – Apparently, it was a statement and video that weren’t supposed to be released at all.

Manny Pacquiao on Monday clarified that he did not give his go-signal for ABS-CBN to air his footage announcing his controversial decision to rescind his live contract with Solar Entertainment Corp. to hook up with the network.

In a phone patch from LA, the boxing superstar claimed he only agreed to do the video for ABS-CBN and issue the statement of transfer on condition they would only be made public if he were to find contractual violations on the part of Solar.

But the thing is: he didn’t see any.

“Ang usapan kasi namin ng ABS ay huwag muna tayo maggawa ng footage o video. Susuriin ko muna ang kontrata ng Solar kung may breach of contract at saka tayo maglabas ng ganoong videos. And then sabi nila sa akin na itatago muna namin, hindi namin ipapalabas, gawin mo na lang ito, sasabihin namin pag papalabas na, kaya ginawa namin," he narrated via a special teleconference. An exclusive video of Pacquiao’s latest interview was shown on GMA 7.

As it turned out, Pacquiao found nothing that will merit the rescinding of his contract with Solar.

“Wala namang nakitang breach of contract at wala namang kasalanan, wala namang nilabag ang Solar so dapat hindi maipalabas ang video na iyon na hindi naman karapat-dapat.," he said.

The recorded video was shown on ABS-CBN last Wednesday, drawing protests from Solar, which reiterated its legal rights to air Pacquiao’s fights. The contract of Pacquiao’s MP Promotions and Solar is still good up to May 6, 2011, which covers the May 2 title fight with Ricky Hatton.

In a letter to Solar, Pacquiao had cited the company’s “failure to fulfill its financial obligations." Solar officials had denied such allegation and maintained all financial matters have been settled.

Pacquiao bared that it was ABS-CBN itself that prepared the contents of what he said on the video. “Yung statement na iyon actually hindi naman ako ang gumawa nun, ang gumawa nun mga abogado rin ng ABS. Sila ang nagturo sa akin, ah, sila ang may idea nun na gawin ko ang sasabihin ko," he disclosed.
See? I say Solar Entertainment slap ABS-CBN with a high profile lawsuit. If we were only like the U.S. This entity is obviously provoking and mocking the former and Manny Pacquiao. Why the hell would they show that video if there was an agreement anyway? BS. ABS-CBN is full of deceits, crafts, guile, and sly tricks and schemes. Always was. Always is. Another machination of this unethical company. And before I go, read some of the comments I quoted from this YouTube address (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVTsmQu84jU&feature=related):

From username mig204:
PUTANG INA NIYO!

From username gnew69:

From username quadcore69:
yeah you're right mig.. napansin ko rin that time na parang may binabasa si manny, at halatang scripted .... no doubt mayroon palang kababalaghan na nagaganap that time... mali lang ni manny bro sinunod nya ang abs cbn w/o consulting his lawyer or alam ng lawyer nya na di naman ata pasado sa bar exams hehehe... well atleast lumabas na kung sino ang kahiyahiya.. goodluck manny sa laban mo at sana sa susunod mag isip ka rin bago mo gawin ang pinapagawa sayo lalo na pag ABS lumapit sayo hehe peace!
Look how these people badmouths ABS-CBN just like that. I agree with them as much as other people would agree with me. I didn't make those quotes up. Visit the YouTube address above for proof.

Engrish.com - "I find a website that are funny."

Monday, March 23, 2009

Found a website that's called Engrish.com. Very hilarious site. Anyways, this site makes fun of the mishaps of other people trying to speak/read/write proper English. Which is some kinda cool, because English as itself is taken for granted in most English speaking nations. Some purposely twist their English for it to sound slang-ish and/or cool.

Anyways, here's a picture in one of their more recent posts. They call it "What's up babie?" Read the words in the picture and smile or laugh. What's up babie? I'm gonna tell you something goods.

This site is already established and is on since 200X (X being numbers 1 to 9) I think. Most of the word and grammar blunders shown at the site are of Chinese origins but Japan and Korea's often featured too (I noticed that this site's all about Asians. Where's the European typos? I think I'd call this site racist. Nah. Just kidding). I even saw one from India. Maybe I'll be a contributor. I can't see no Philippines in the Engrish.com website yet.

They have their own novelty store full of BS'ed English shirts, mugs, calendars and the like. Good products I presume (Well, here in our nation we don't need to order via the internet. We just go to a place called Divisoria. There're lots of Chinese and Koreans there. They sell shirts like that all the time. Got it?) And they also have what they like to call a "Massage Board" (obviously message board) where you can put "massages" at.

So next time you see something wrong, take a picture. Be a contributor. Help other people laugh. Share it at Engrish.com to help others know about the "Beware of missng foot" sign. Yeah, I'll be wary of any missing foot. Then again they may really have the idea, but they just expressed it in an unconventional and unthinkable way. Missing foot. Gah.

Lunch At Burger King.

Friday, March 20, 2009

Another boring afternoon I guess. That's why I decided to take pictures of the Burger King located inside SM Marikina. It's not what you'd expect a Burger King store to be. No free cola no more (unlike the old times).

This fugly burger right here is the Whopper Jr. BTW, they have a "Buy one Whopper Jr. get one free!" promo right now. Fitting for couples.

As you can see it's pretty much empty. Empty seats and a lot of crew. Man.

Nice frames and good paneling. Soft chairs too.

The "Whopper Reel."

This is the "Are you a Two-Timer" test . I got 6 yes's and 4 nos. Which means "You're getting there. Practice makes perfect." Cool.

As for the burger, it still tastes great. 100% unadulterated beef, not like those burgers from stores I know (coughcoughJollibeecoughcough). Avail of this promo now while it's still available. But in my opinion, even though they say it's free, it's really not because the PHP 140.00 you'll pay for it covers all their expenses and they'll still have some profit from it. Marketing strategies. Cool.

SM Marikina - A Big Small Package. Y'know what I mean?

Thursday, March 19, 2009

The girlfriend and I met up at LRT Santolan today and we decided to visit the latest addition to Henry Sy's mall empire - SM Marikina. You'll see it as you pass by if you're inside the LRT2. What's cool is, SM Marikina has it's own overpass that leads straight to it's 2nd floor. Cool eh?

The air inside is cool, probably because there's not much people (unlike in SM Megamall where you won't feel any air especially if there's a 3-day sale). The ambiance, spotless, Yeah, the ambiance is what struck me the most. It's sooooooo not SM-y. There's just three floors. And pretty much empty spaces. The SM Marikina Cyberzone is a vast ocean of nothingness. Just wait 'till you see the pictures I took (with my super duper cheap celfone camera that doesn't do nice pictures).

Enough of the chitchat, I'll put this up in the Photos archive. Enjoy the pics:

The ground floor. Scary. There's a foot spa here.

This is SM Marikina's Cyberzone. Eeeeeempty.

Damn eeeeeeeempty.

You'll encounter something like this once in a while. It's a touch-screen mall helper thingy that would help you in the mall. Too bad it's broken. Pressed it a couple of times. The damn thing won't just respond to my touch. Or wait? Maybe my fingers have a problem.

Ah yes, the Foodcourt. It's not much space-wise, but it has yellow lights and good food.

Movies! Yey! No, they only have two cinemas. Two or three. The films that were showing as of this picture was "Watchmen" and I forgot.

The view from the 2nd floor. It's pretty scenic when you look outside those massive windows.

The ceiling of SM Marikina's entrance. What are those objects supposed to be anyway? Too big to be cloth hangers.

The outside. A few stalls here and there. Most are from Starbucks. Or Jollibee I guess. Maybe you're asking, "Where's the people?" Well. I dunno.

The massive footbridge I was talking about. No, this is not it. This is just a section of it. It's a loooooooong walk. Again, "Where are the people?!"

Well, inside the mall you'll find:
1. Jollibee
2. Burger King
3. Gerry's Grill
4. Max's
5. Mcdonald's
6. 2 stores of UniSilver
7. Blue Magic
8. A Chinese Drug Shop (complete with herbs)
9. 2 Quantum arcades
10. Tokyo Tokyo
11. Common Cyberzone stores
12. Etc.

That's pretty much it. But I suggest you pay a visit to this "Big Small" place. Don't bring your family though. This is not a family-friendly mall. Really. I don't recommend it.

Opinions: Obama's Stem Cell Research Policy.

Monday, March 16, 2009

First of all, I would like to say that I'm very dissappointed with Pres. Obama for OKing this policy.

I've read quite a few books regarding stem cells, stem cell patents, stem cell this and that and whatever. It's very scary to think that these kinds of things are happening in the world's greatest nation. How can one even patent cells? That's one of the stupidest patent attempts, ever.

Now, with regards to the Obama Stem Cell Policy, as far as I know this policy would allow scientists and researchers to tamper with embryonic stem cells for cure development purposes. I apologize to those who're gonna be hit, but if you're an insensitive cynic, a progressive bioscientist or just a die-hard capitalist, maybe you'll see this as something like "This would save human lives!" But if you're like me (I'm not being self-righteous here), an average dude raised with morals and values, you'd see this as "This should not be allowed to go on further!"

Tampering with biological systems like this would produce Teratoma cells which looks like something taken out from the game "Silent Hill." Yes, it's hideous.
I've read some of the arguments of both proponents and opponents of this matter. But I'd have to say I'd side heavily on the opponents of this policy. It should now be clear to us that: 1) This is morally wrong. This is basically murder. The destruction of life in it's earliest form (one must destroy human embryos to acquire embryonic stem cells). Laws are unprepared for it. Lawmakers I think are just beginning to argue about it. This stuff should remain in the movies, not in real life; 2) It is not the prerogative of anyone to give calls with regards to the tampering of human life. Not even Pres. Obama. He should've known that. A lot of ethical concerns are rising about this issue. Only God has the right to call plays; 3) One's continuity to life should not be superseded by one's right to life (as said by a U.S. politician). We should, as morally guided humans, find other ways to save lives. We should not save lives by destroying lives and; 4) Tampering with biological systems like this would produce Teratoma cells which looks like something taken out from the game "Silent Hill." Yes, it's hideous. That right there on the left is a Teratoma cell tumor (http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=88572) That's the result of haywired embryonic stem cells. Scary isn't it? That's a conglomerated ball of teeth, limb, hair and skin. That's no fetus. That's a tumor and; 5) No matter which side of the story you look at, something tells you that this is not a good idea. Plus, quoted from WND.com, "Obama's reversal of Bush's policy comes in the face of scientific evidence that more than two decades of embryonic stem cell research have failed to produce medically valuable results, while adult stem cell research has resulted in successful medical treatments for a wide range of illnesses.
Obama's reversal of Bush's policy comes in the face of scientific evidence that more than two decades of embryonic stem cell research have failed to produce medically valuable results, while adult stem cell research has resulted in successful medical treatments for a wide range of illnesses.
See? So we have an alternative. Adult Stem Cells. If you read the article at WND.com, you should know the difference of Adult Stem Cells from Embryonic Stem Cells. You can get Adult Stem Cells without killing nobody (it is gained from bone marrows and waste placental tissues). So why would the Obama Administration push through with such? The answer to that question I don't know. Maybe he wants to gain immortality. Just kidding.

I am not Anti-Obama here. I'm just one very disappointed person wishig and hoping that this very bad decision would be retracted, overturned, scrapped, and buried 10 miles below the ground.

So there you have it. If you wanna avoid having "Silent Hill-like" creatures in the near future, let your voice be heard. Blog about it. I did. 'Till my next installment.

Celso de los Angeles: The Philippines' Bernard Madoff

Sunday, March 15, 2009

This arrogant and self-righteous man right here, Celso de los Angeles. stole millions from people using his Legacy Plans Incorporated. I don't know much about him personally, but I sure do know a lot about him television-wise.

This poor excuse of a man should be hated, persecuted, and incarcerated for eternity. I mean, look at that face. It seems that he should be the one angry because he was arrested. I can't say nothing much about him because of anger and rage. You know the situations when you shake and tremble and grit your teeth so hard it would break because of anger? That's what I'm experiencing everytime I see this man on TV and on the Internet.

Well, see, de los Angeles used the funds from his Legacy Plans Incorporated for his own use. He supposedly was not the only one who benefited from the funds. Let's see. There's the SEC Commissioner, the VPs of Legacy, Prospero Nograles, and I dunno who else.

Well, I'll quit of this for a while because I'll gather more info and listen to the news. I'll see what happens in the Senate probes. I can't and I won't give any more opinions about this without gaining further knowledge because that would be wrong and just plain stupid.

All I know is, this man's a villain. If you wanna follow and check up on more Celso de los Angeles entries, I've found this blog full of it. Visit it, read it, comment on it: http://celsoandhislegacy.blogspot.com

My New Fila Shoes.

Saturday, March 14, 2009

I've not posted for the longest time because of the nearing of the graduation season. I've just been had by those exams. Man, reviewing all the time was quite a task. Jeez, I wanna talk a lot about my schooling but what the hell. It just buries me deeper into the ground everytime I talk about it.

So anyways, I got home tonight right. I wasn't expecting nothing when suddenly I saw a black box of Fila lying on the floor. My father asked me to try it on. Man, it fits! Just my size! Cool eh? I've not replaced my chucks for quite some time now. They're old, broken, ragged, whatever. So I guess that's why they bought me a new pair.

Man, I mean, look at this pair. Isn't it gorgeous? Okay. Some of you may say that "it's just an effin` Fila. What's the big deal?" Well, it's a big deal for me. It's special. It's not just any Fila pair. It's a pair that came from my parents. That's what makes it cool. I ain't braggin`. Just so happy here.

Look at that. It's very rare when I receive a pair of this amount. That's roughly USD 80. In our nation, this is expensive. It's not everyday you're given shoes of this caliber. It may be more expensive back in the United States. I don't know. Perhaps yes, perhaps no.

So thanks Mom and Dad. Love you so much. This is an out-of-nowhere gift I'll never forget. As for the readers, I'll figure out myself for a while. I'm just too stressed and pained by the things that came and those that are to come. Kids, study well at school. 'Till my next installment.

Jabbawockeez - Modern Dancing At Its Finest.

Brothers living in another nation seeing nothing but a condition called action. - Tj's Daily®

You know the dudes that were dancing around Shaq back in the East-West Conference this '09 Season? Y'know, the dudes wearing white masks. Yeah, now you remember. Well, they're called Jabbawockeez (apparently they ripped the name off a book entitled "Jabberwocky"). I think three of them or four are Filipinos. Yeah. Brothers living in another nation seeing nothing but a condition called action. Seeing that they're still hot, I'm gonna capitalize on it. The video below is a tribute to their late member Gary Kendall (see: 2008). So basically this video is a year old, but it still rocks. It's a six minute long video, but every second is worth the wait, especially when you reach the 3:00 mark (especially the "Portrait"!) So here. Tj's Daily® presents the Jabbawockeez:

That's basically it. Remember the name. 'Till my next installment.

The Death Of A Star - Francis M. Tribute.

You remember as young kids the song "Mga Kababayan Ko?" Yeah. That was always the ruler of the airwaves back then. Everyone is like, "akooooo ay Pilipinoooooooo!" Nobody seems to sing that song no more. Frankly, because it's already old and out of tune and date. But one thing about this song won't dissappear - it's message.

See, this may be a tad too late because a lot of people have released their condolences already but there's a saying that's it's better late than later. No just kidding. Yeah I know. Better late than never. I've just not been able to post because of the damn college exams. So okay, here. With all seriousness and genuine sincerity, condolences to the Magalona family for
suffering such a very heavy loss. Everyone knows that Francis was a pillar of Filipino Nationalism and OPM and a lot of other good stuff. May he rest in peace. We know he's in a better place now.

The video below is the tribute of the afternoon show Eat Bulaga! to Francis Magalona, who's now surely recognized as an addition to the clad of Philippine heroes. In it is Andrew E. (another pillar in the OPM/Rap Industry), Gloc 9 (fastest rapper alive), and Dice & K9. There's a lot of other folks too. So watch:

Anyways, this next vid below is the last TV ad Francis M did. Remember back in '08 the Nescafe Palistuhan Challenge? Look at it and see how health he was. No hair loss, no drastic skin pigmentation change, etc.

Francis already had leukemia at this point but he seemed so healthy. I guess that's how life rolls. One day you are Rudy Fernandez then suddenly you're a Francis Magalona. It's just so sad. Again, condolences. 'Till my next installment.

Kamen Rider Decade Episode 6 Now Out.

Monday, March 2, 2009

Just a short update.

The 6th episode of the brand-spanking new Kamen Rider Decade series is now out on YouTube. What I'm confused about is the title says it's divided into 3 parts, the first being 1/3 and the second being 2/3. I can't find the 3/3 part. It either remains unposted or have been removed by the YouTube admin. Or, it could be there but somehow I can't find it. Here's the vids. Enjoy.

Edit: All segments are now complete up to 3/3.

Korean Boy Singing Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" - Epic Video.

Sunday, March 1, 2009

Just a short update.

As usual, I found this while surfing the net. Man I cried my ass out while watching this. With all seriousness aside, who won't laugh while watching this, right? You gotta be able to understand English to fully enjoy it though. So, 'nuff said. Just watch the video below. Plus, it has subs! Not the original "Touch My Body" subs. This song is entitled "Tarts My Body" by Korean Boy. Enjoy.

Note: I'm not mocking or discriminating anyone. This is just a funny video I found on the internet. Well to me at least it was funny.
