Music: Hero - Skillet

Saturday, October 31, 2009

If you're looking for a refreshing rock sound, better listen to this.

This song is entitled Hero from the album Awake by the band Skillet. I'm not entirely familiar with this band at all. Just saw it on Channel V Asia the other day. What got me interested at first was the fire and black background - reminds me very much of My Chemical Romance. Good video, good music. The lyrics also kind of hits you inside. Not to mention they're a Christian band. Nothing wrong with that.

Anyway, the album Awake was released way back August this year. Not too old not too new. Then again I wish them music video channels and FM stations play excellent music like this every other time if not frequently so we don't have to ream YouTube every month searching for good music.

Something to watch out for this November: Good Charlotte's new album. Forgot the title. Slated for release this month.

'Till my next installment.

Opinions: Chiz Escudero's Recent Announcement

Thursday, October 29, 2009

People have been waiting for Sen.Escudero to finally announce his candidacy for next year's elections. Unfortunately for those souls, yesterday wasn't "it" either - even if it was held at Club Filipino.

What Sen. Escudero did announce is his resignation from his political group, the NPC. Very admirable that move he did if I should say so myself. The reason - he doesn't want to stay chained in a group that if he ever becomes President he will have debts of gratitude on. That he doesn't want to be eaten by the system. That he doesn't want any debts of gratitude from anyone because it would affect his performance and interests as President.

See, I think of Sen. Escudero as a straightforward man who see and does things as they come and go. The only problem with his strategy is it's very untraditional here in the Philippines. People that could help him will start backing off one by one because they'd realize that all their support won't get any return (if Sen. Escudero happens to become the next Philippine President). I'm sure that's how it runs anywhere in the world, right? Rich people will "invest" in these politicians and if they win, they'd get to command the President around because of his/her indebtness to them during the campaign period. Them rich people call it support, we call it bribe. Funny how that works. Those rich folks say they're doing it purely for support and that they expect nothing in return, but I'm hell sure they'd expect every single penny back.

Now, what Sen. Escudero did hurt some people. Sen. Legarda on one hand says she was surprised and that it pains her that Chiz said words, although indirectly, against their party. But it goes how it goes Senator. The bid for Presidency is very volatile. Heck nobody even knew Sen. Aquino would run for the Presidency. Now Sen. Escudero says that he's open for VPship. I'm thinking of two points for this guy: Either he's really concerned for the Philippines or he's thinking for his own interest.

Anyway, it's too early to tell what Sen. Escudero has on his head. A few TV ads here and there but still nothing solid. Like what's always said by the politicians here in the Philippines, "Let the people decide."

Month Long Hiatus - Tj's Daily® Resumption

It's been a month and two days since I last posted here. And I though my blog was dead. Seems weird typing again in here, but I love it anyhow.

I've been busy - quite busy in fact, but I ain't gonna elaborate anyway. Confidentiality agreement. Plus, that typhoon they call Ketsana, well it unceremoniously destroyed my internet line causing me to purchase Globe's Tattoo Wi-Fi (which is guaranteed to suck big time by the time you plug it into your USB hub. Don't believe the commercials - they lie). The Tattoo Wi-Fi can't even access this page.

So here I am again, ready to say whatever. Tj's Daily is back online.
